Our local chapter is made up of about 50 moms and is always growing. Some of our moms were born and raised in the Bluffton-Hilton Head area, while others have moved here from all over the country, some have even moved internationally. Some of our moms choose to stay home full-time with their children, while others work outside the home. Some of our mothers started a family young, while others waited. One thing we all have in common is our desire to raise happy healthy children.
Our primary mission is to provide support for other mothers. We
do this by arranging play dates and activities for our mothers and children. Children
are welcome at all of our events, with the exception of our popular
Mom's Night Out. We hold monthly meetings to get feedback from our
members about the direction that you would like our group to go, and
brainstorm ideas for activities to put on the following month's
calendar. We strive to recognize that all members of our group
have different experiences, interests, and schedules and try to host
events at a variety of days and times during the week, however primarily during daylight hours. We try to keep the majority
of our events either free or low cost as we recognize the financial
constraints of raising a family. Some of our past activities include
holiday craft time, fire station tours, and of course, spending time
playing at the beach!
We also enjoy giving back to
our community. We also closely with Family
Promise of Beaufort Co. to meet their needs through donations of time and
items. Over the years we have helped support Bluffton Self Help, Sandlewood Community Foodbank, and other low country non-profit organizations that support local women and families. Additionally, from time to time we organize community events that are open to the public that benefit community moms, like our Summer Camp Informational Fair.
Most months we host a Mom's Night Out (MNO).
This might be something like checking out a new restaurant in the area,
or going to see a new movie, or trying out a group activity, like paddleboarding or line-dancing. Our monthly MNO is always a lot of fun
and gives attendees the chance to unwind and have some adult
conversation with women at the same stages of raising a family.
also have organized age specific weekly playgroups. These playgroups
give our children great friends, and the opportunity for our mom's to
discuss child raising with other mothers that are going through the same
things. No worries though, older/younger siblings are always welcome
For active members we provide a private Facebook group page that allows our members to submit ideas for things
that interest them, and also plan sponsored events. Our Facebook group
gives members great access to local information. Don't know where you
can get something in town child related? Post it to the group and
chances are someone will tell you!
